Hey Js how is it going? You with USPS? I just applied, thanks
-
I'm a current Postal Driver and I highly recommend that if the job is offered to you, TAKE IT.
You definately applied at the right time because 2 weeks ago, PSE TTO has been eliminated in the Motor Vehicle Craft and are now ALL CAREER positions. The position you applied for is a full time career position. You will have some of the best benefits, Federal Employee Pension, and a Thrift Savings Plan which is like a 401k. You are guaranteed 8 hours a day, 40 hours a week and you will have a bidded run and set schedule. OT is paid after 8, double time after 10, shift differential pay which can add up to $3-4 dollars an hour more, weekend premium pay which adds 25% more, and any extra days are paid double time. Top rate if you worked shift differential under the new contract is about $35-36 an hour, but it will LITERALLY take you 8-10 years to reach top rate.
Hope this answers any questions.GwenP Thanks this. -
It does indeed, I just did the assessment with a 90. We shall see. Thank you.
Sho Nuff Thanks this. -
The process to actually start, IF you get the job, can take up to 2 months. But with the holiday season coming up, I figure they will push you to start even sooner, which is good for you because you will get a lot of OT and double time pay. Top rate drivers that come in on the weekend as extra work can make about $6-700 or more in one day, during the holiday season.
Good luck and I hope you get the job. -
Great. On another note, there is available running containers from the ports of Seattle and Tacoma, 20 an hour. Never ran these, seems squirrelly. It's through a staffing agency, 20 an hour. Thoughts anyone?
-
Thinking of utilizing it in the meantime.
-
Staffing company's are okay. Some temp hire then you can get hired by whom ever your contracted to after a certain time and other temp company's you work directly for them and fill in at different trucking jobs when they are short like a casual driver.
There are few temp agency's in KC that actively recruit retired and part time drivers to fill in for local work and containers.
Just make sure how are they paying you and what obligations you have if you decide to quit or get hired by one of the places you are contracted to and if you will be a W2 or 1099 hire.
