Structural engineering. They are designed to have some movement in case of earthquakes or extreme winds.
One in Edmonton at 170 st over the Yellowhead moves quite a bit when it's windy and lots of traffic bouncing over it. You can't see it, but you sure can feel it.

It's afraid to cross. Freightliners are especially prone to this, but I've seen Macks, KW's, etc, also suffer this syndrome. Most trucks grow out of it, but there are extreme cases, where there is no cure to be found. Get 'er to the dealer ASAP, and explain that you have a truck with bridge crossing syndrome. If there is any hope for it, you will find it there.

Good Luck, driver, keep us updated!

Try working under the deck when trucks are going across. Scared the poop out of me the first time. I was on top of the pier prepping for repairs on the rockers.

It is the bridge getting ready to fall in. Do you have your DOT mandated parachute handy? It should be with your triangles and fire extinguisher.

By the way, the Whitestone bridge in the Bronx has the same design as "Galloping Gertie"...

    You're welcome.
