FYI when I went factoring company shopping they all told me that this is the way they do it so that leaves me a bit confused.

I can't defend the name calling but I can defend the set up.
We use Triumph Business Capital as our factoring company. Triumph does all our back office and pays all of the carrier payments by ACH in 24 hours. The only advance the broker(we) receive is the difference between the carrier payment and the total invoice. This way the factoring company is not subject to any claims by unpaid carriers and the carrier is guaranteed payment. It's a great set up, but as a new broker it's still tough to get carriers on board because all they look at is the MC numberbrian991219 and scottlav46 Thank this. -
Its like the guy at Walmart telling me I dont want to accept your credit card. correct?
-
I just wish that any carrier that gave me a hard time not wanting to except my freight should make .50 per mile for the next year! business is about trust I've paid top dollar for my broker authority and worked hard to find customers i won't let myself get discouraged by thos scary cats.

And I wish that your ignorant ### just goes out of business, you have no idea how this business works and you already don't have respect for carriers. Go get a truck, get screwed by some broker and then we'll see how much trust you gonna have for any punk out there, who decided that he wants to be a broker

I only said the carriers that gave me a hard time, the ones that didn't I treated them like kings

I think it's up to you as the broker to sell yourself to the carrier as much as it is the shipper. As a broker your primary function is customer service in both directions of the transaction. Using your example, the credit card companies have earned the trust of the merchants over decades of work. Stores didn't automatically accept credit cards back when it was a new idea and payment model, it took time to build the two way relationship.
I do understand your frustration with carriers that only look at MC numbers but if they are short on time they need some indicator that helps minimize risk.
If a carrier passes on you based their qualifying criteria for loads it's probably not a good fit for both of you anyway. -
So factoring is new to the freight broker industry? mmmm........
