I really think it's just a matter of time before all companies go the camera route. It actually has me pretty frazzled at the moment. I've been trucking most of my working life, so I don't have any real skills outside of driving. Still, out of principle, when the time comes that I can't drive without a camera in my face, I will hang up the keys for good.

Unless you are on a construction job site, you are usually on camera the entire time you are at shippers and receivers, on many DOT cera's when driving down the highway, even on others dash cams. Hell, half the time walking down the street we are some sort of camera. I don't do crazy #### when I drive so that doesn't bother me.
What I am fervently opposed to is a camera that is running when I am parked and off duty. That's a complete invasion of my privacy.
Given the choice I would say no to a Camera, but if I was in a day cab, I could live with it.
I will not be OTR with one however.Friday and Rusty Trawler Thank this. -
In 34 years I have crossed so many bridges I swore I would never cross.
But this is the one I won't.
No matter what -
As I've said before, I don't have a problem with a forward facing camera. Those do have a benefit to the driver as it will see the person who cut you off, spun out on the ice, etc.X-Country and Rusty Trawler Thank this. -
I agree... I have a friend of mine who had a camera in his truck.. He was in the middle lane. A car entered his lane from the right lane, and he let off the gas, then the car exited his lane into the left.. He was called into the office for following too closely... He later had a similar incident the next week.. And then the week after that he had got called in again.. He left because he was going to get fired due to a point system.. It was NOT the trucking company but the camera sensor that caused the camera to record... He had been driving for 9 months before this happened without hitting anything... A month after they installed his camera he had to quit..
Rusty Trawler Thanks this. -
