It may for a company that trains. If you get you CDL at a school through benefits there are a few companies that will give you a job.

I do not recommend trying to get into trucking with anything on your driving record thats younger than 3 yrs. Insurance companies are fickle and dings on your driving record show lack of personal restraint and due care. No one wants a careless trucker in their fleet.
Sorry,.. but that is the reality of trucking. Your license, driving history and work history are the life blood that dictates this industry.
Now if a company is willing to train you and hire you,.. be forewarned. You will likely be signing into a contract that says you will stay working for said company until such a time they deem you have paid for your training and can move on. Breaking the contract is not advisable,.. you may as well shoot yourself in the foot. Even if you do not like the company you are working for. You need to have the fortitude to stick it out until the time comes where you can move on.

if the domestic violence is misdemeanor you may be ok but the license suspension needs to be 5 years old.
Truck companies that train drivers at their own school are selective. Need clean criminal record and driving record.David Bistram Thanks this. -
Its been a little over 3 years since i been pulled over for those offenses.

Yes,.. but what does your MVR show? Offense date and date in which the points accrued are usually different and generally coincide to when you paid the fine or plead guilty in court. That could be months even over a year later.
Just make sure its clean or minimal,.. 1 point may be over looked. But with out previous CDL history,.. it will be difficult with out a clean MVR.
Everything in this business revolves around a history of your previous actions. When a company can be sued for $millions because of your actions,.. you really cant blame them.

Check with local community college programs. Most states offer a workforce grant to help people such as yourself. Usually let you go through the program for free. And community college programs are usually better programs anyway. I got my CDL for 200 out of pocket and I got to choose the company I went to work for with no contract
austinmike, David Bistram and Hurst Thank this. -
This would probably be the route I would take if I were in the OP's shoes.
See if there is a PEL grant available for the classes.
Just make sure your background is clean before signing on. Nothing is more discouraging than going through all of the classes and acquiring your CLD only to be turned away at every corner because of your history.

What happened to getting a book and taking the test at the dmv? Finding a truck and taking the driving test?
