As I was rollin down 80 this evening I started hearing a noise that resembles the ticking of an exhaust leak. But I only hear it when my turbo is building boost or I engage my jakes. It is a gradual increase and decrease in noise. If I just coast down the road I can't hear it. I stopped a raised my rpms up to about 1600 and still nothing. Only when it builds boost or the Jake's are engaged. No engine codes, no smoke from the stacks, no oil around the turbos and all air connections seem to be tight and in place. I'm guessing my waste gate is bad? Any other insights? Also this is an 07 Pete with a CAT C 15

Also just noticed oil on drivers side of motor. Can't tell where it's coming from.

Just went thru the same symptoms on an 05. Found it was bad unloaded on the air compressor causing the noise I'd also believe yours to be compressor related with the oil on the drivers side.

My air is building like normal and air dryer purges when it's suppose to as well... I've found a nut behind one of my turbos that has backed almost completely off...

That would be your problem there. The air in mine was acting completely normal too except for a ticking sound under power.

Replace the rubber hose and all is well again. This is also where the oil was coming from...

That hose will blow out again eventually. Ask a Cat dealer for the upgraded compressor inlet hose kit. They have a braided hose that replaces the rubber and steel tubing. You'll need to change the fitting in the compressor and block to install it, but it wont blow out again.
