I have a secret security clearance and have heard there are truck driving jobs that require this.
Does anyone know of a company that hires new drivers , no experience but have a clearance ?

Ah Dennis unless they changed things as soon as you depart your job the military will cancel your current clearance level as you would no longer have a need for it in their eyes. Getting another one would be simple though as that cancel does not affect future needs of clearance.
dennisroc Thanks this. -
I have never been in the military but have worked on there airplanes for many years as a DOD civilian. I got off military contracts for a couple years and when I went back I think my clearance was still active because I was working in Japan and was told my clearance was still good.
Not sure though but heard some driving jobs with a clearance paid pretty good. -
You want to go from working on airplanes to trucking?
For real?Bob Dobalina, rabbiporkchop, dca and 1 other person Thank this. -
Apparently fixing planes isn't a great paying job. I work with a guy who fixed planes for a few years and he said the wages are very poor for the responsibility you have to shoulder.
-
Yeah, I talked to a guy who did it
Would have to go to different cities all over the world for months at a time.
Sounded like a lot of stress but it's still gotta be better than this.
*Shrugs*dennisroc Thanks this. -
I make great money
tax free here in Korea for 10 years now and have got to travel and see a lot of other country's over the last several years but now I can afford to do something different it's not really about the money but just something I find interesting.
I have a Filipina wife and we have a place in the Philippines where we will retire and spend summers in Indiana in a few years but just burnt out on working on airplanes. I work on my own if needed and enjoy it but tired of working on others
My wife has been a US citizen now for a few years and we just spend a few weeks a year in the US and we thought trucking might be a good way for her to see the US and we just like driving on long rides.
I don't expect to make the money I make now but if we can make a little money and have fun doing it then we are ready for a change.
Need a company that will let wife and dog travel also.
I have been thinking about doing this for the last couple of years but kept getting contract extension but we are about ready for a change.tucker and FullMetalJacket Thank this. -
For some people who take the lower paying jobs it might be because they want to stay close to home ,I have been fortunate and worked on jobs and in country's I wanted too.
Been all over USA , Asia, South America , Central America , Europe , Puerto Rico , Cayman Islands , Guam and sure a few places I forgot. Made good money and had a great time but wanting something different for the next few yrs before I retire.
Maybe after 3 months driving a truck I will be looking on airplane jobs . com LOLrabbiporkchop, FullMetalJacket and Chinatown Thank this. -
Jobs like dennidroc has are good. Regular civilian jobs have been ruined by union demands. Many civilian airlines send their planes to Brazil for scheduled maintenance because it's cheaper and the work is of the highest quality. Probably most Americans aren't aware of this. Canadian airlines probably do the same.
Even Boeing outsources a lot of their R&D (research & development) to Poland; another little known secret. Poland; that's where the talent is for that type work.dennisroc Thanks this. -
Somewhere on here folks were talking about drivers hauling nuclear material from Los Alamos in plain trucks with escorts and .45s on their hips.
dennisroc and Rusty Trawler Thank this.
