I've also hit 10+ mpg in a fully loaded (75,000lbs-79,000lbs gwr)vnl670 with the Volvo d13 ishift. Maybe I'm just a unbelievable driver lollll. You're trying too hard to calculate It out. I was on paper starting out and became a trainer in the later part of my first year. Trainers make a extra 1500-4000$ a month. Next year I'll probably make 100,000$+.
Barely anyone does believe what I make but at the end of the day I've got w-2s to prove it. Old timers just can't handle someone new going into the business making way more than them after a year.

When you say you were on paper starting out, do you mean paper logs? Where do you stash the other two log books lol
-
I wouldn't be a trainer for the extra money. You can, so that's good for your bank account.
-
I only ran one log book on paper. Deleting what was necessary and such. Never saw a need for more than one. I think that may just be a old timers tale in order for them to try to glorify themselves. The raider fleet is on e logs now.
-
I ran two logs for years. It was normal a few years ago. We kept one on the doghouse and one in the briefcase so they didn't get mixed up if we were asked to see our logbook. Some drivers ran from east coast to California with no sleep and I've done it with only 3 or 4 hours sleep. Those days are over and I'm glad. Staying pilled up caused too many health problems and early demise. Sometimes wake up and think a wind storm is shaking the truck, then realize it's your heart racing.RedRover, MidwestResident and Prof.Gringo Thank this.

I worked at Raider Express. The emails you received are about as accurate as you can get.
The motel is okay. They won't feed you, so be prepared to bring food.
You will be trained on how to drive a truck. You will get plenty of behind the wheel time with your trainer. They haul refrigerated and non refrigerated beverage loads.
They probably will not hire you if you live in Oregon, because this is not in their freight lanes and you don't take the truck home.Prof.Gringo Thanks this. -
HOLY MOSES!!
God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.! -
Thanks for the laugh! Stop trying to blow smoke at all these hopefuls wanting to get into the trucking industry. "Welcome to the trucking industry, now believe these lies I tell you". Go ahead and post those W2s you've got.
btw...when you're on 287 In TX north of Stratford, OK, or CO and see another truck wanting to pass, HELP HIM PASS and don't continue to clog up the works with your unbelievably slow truck. Pass this on to your fellow company drivers too. Ya'll are some of the worst I've ever seen on that stretch of road. Good grief! -
Just ran 287 from Colorado to Texas and back over the last few days. By far one of the more dangerous places I have had to drive, with all the curves and people doing 60mph. Hell people will be doing 55 until you try to pass them and then speed up. 3 times this week I had to slam on my brakes while trying to pass because some ####### pinned me in the oncoming traffic lane while trying to pass them. It's ridiculous. You know #### well I'm going to pass and dart off, not sit and block you in.
I regularly pull onto the shoulder to let people get by me on 287.
Something needs to be done about that stretch of highway, but until 4 wheelers start dying, nothing will be done. They clearly don't give a #### about us.longbedGTs Thanks this. -
Very true. I've seen more respect from Prime(about as slow as Raider) when trying to pass...but Raider drivers??? Nope, as soon as you get a good downhill to help with passing, they let it ride down the hill too, preventing you from making the pass. They apparently hate their own slow trucks so much that they take every opportunity to see what 65mph feels like...even if it prevents another truck from passing. I think some passing lanes would help, but with all the hills, it might be a pain if you're heavy.
