The single biggest issue with the OP is he is a Millennial.. Se he was raised that he got things for just showing up...IE trophys and such and he was told he could do anything.... Now he expects a paycheck for showing up like the rest of his age group..... SMH Good luck to you.

You're insane, so the op doesn't like OTR and is going to get a different kind of job.
    What's the problem?
    I don't want a local job even with a trophy a week.
It takes all kinds to make the world work, some people even like Fritos in their chili.

The OP just realized this isn't for him. Better now than 10 years in.

I love Fritos in my chili.... Point in no work ethic... The guys that put in the work are making the money wouldn't dream of leaving...

Not entirely true in my case the money was good. I make more now but even if I didn't I enjoy it more than I did driving. I have a great work ethic.

I'm in the "suck it up and pay your dues" camp. It will get better with time, just like EVERTHING you will ever do in your life.

So you think it's going to be better at Advance disposal?Truckdriving is the same no matter where you go only thing different about local is you're home everyday with no social life.I hated local way more then I did OTR and if my dad didn't need me to care for himI would be back out there.I wish you the best of luck with advance but you'll find out you're boss isn't any different then the company you're driving for now.You may be doing a different kind of driving but it's still the transportation indusrty.I do however don't blame you for wanting to leave that company after that $5.00 gift certificate they gave you, that tells me your 2 yrs of service means nothing to them.

Life for the working man sucks all over.

I am currently up in Michigan staying with a buddy.

His dad was a GM employee as is my buddy since the age of 19.

27 years of enduring layoffs and being loyal to GM bought him a piddly buyout or a new 4 hour roundtrip to work..

Seems Flint couldn't live without GM so they closed my buddies truck plant in Grand Rapids 6 years ago during their cutbacks.

52 years old and my buddy looks like he is 70 now . A short workweek is 60 hours. But the kicker is now he has to do every other weekend to make up for gas and wear and tear on his car plus inflation kicking him in the balls.

    12 days in a row 12 hour days is a kicker .

Don't get me started on Millennials. They have been helicoptered, coodled and presented with awards just for showing up so much.... No wonder the Marines have to break that out of them before building them up properly.

It's ok to hate something. But stop sinking further from hate into a sort of a mental health issue. Your darkness that eats at you will be a instrument that gets someone killed once the devil gets ahold of you.

There will always be bosses, here or there. Or anywhere. In about oh... 40 years you will be a boss yourself with a crew of relative children at 21 years old....

Life is a kicker. When I started this trucking thing at 21, I knew and hoped to make it to 70 and still be rolling. But no. I made it almost to 50. Medical advances from those days to today make it possible to spend some money and parts to make the body right to keep going to 70. But watching all those immigrants and so forth take two trucks for one price of my pay combined with the loss of our Culture (If there ever was one....) makes me consider that I should stay home anyway Robots will be rolling soon enough....
