If it's a millennial who lives with and coddled by their parents etc. I think that is the issue. Not all the millennials. Or that's my take. For everything else to each his own.

I didn't, and have a good paying LTL gig that all things considered I'm satisfied with.

However, what I do find annoying is the mentality of some that I've met that just because the trucking business wasn't their thing, they now have to make it some sort of personal mission to make sure nobody else is happy with THEIR thing either.

This job puts money in my pocket, food in the refrigerator, and has for 15 years now, and frankly I consider that attitude a personal affront. The malcontents who do little more than complain, while doing even less to change their circumstances, have grown beyond tiresome. To them, all I have to say is "put up or shut up", because I'm sick of hearing it.

Now in the OP's case, he's still young and has a bit of growing up to do yet, and for him I would suggest a local job if he has the experience to find one.

There is a kid that works in the meat department but not a cutter. Basically an associate who stocks what we cut. Well he is in college so they put him closing so he can go to college. When closing you just stick all evening into the night then clean our meat dept

He lives with his parents and you can tell him something 10 times and he just a waits on one of us to do it. He has started calling in now because his washing machine is broke or car broke down etc.

These millennials aggravate me to death. Absolutely NO work ethic because everything is handed to them. And this is our future, oh boy
