CapitalcityNYtrucker Im in Troy and drive for BBX. They are pretty good. Im home 2 days a week. I refuse NYC and they have no issue with it. I run Canada a lot. Do a lot of Wegmans runs, both stores and DC's. Run fish out of Boston. Ive gone as far as Greenville SC. Ive ran GM parts for them to Flint Mi. a few times. We go in Canada around Buffalo.....run through to Flint and then come back. Unless you pull doubles you will be put in an old International 9400i. I have a pretty nice one. They tried to retire mine and put me in another one....I pitched a major ##### about it and 2 days later they took my truck back out of retirement, fixed it (New transfer case) and gave it back. They keep the old trucks in very good condition. Your in for a PM every month. They fix any issues you have with the truck no matter how small. You leave the trucks at the Rotterdam terminal as well so you dont have to drag it home. They have a no pet policy...I put in my two week notice because I wanted a company I could bring my cat along. They said if it will make you happy...bring your cat lol. So he rides with me all week. You do your job and dont cause drama, they will like you and bend over backwards to make you happy. If you wanna run hard they have no problem running you to death. 90% of the time I have a load on me before I deliver what I already have. The longest Ive ever sat waiting for a load was maybe 5 hours. Looking for a change of pace....give them a call.

Just spent the last day reading through this whole thing. I'm going to school in September and looking at Schneider afterwords. They credit military service as experience so I'm hoping for decent starting wages. Thanks for updating this log with your experience thus far. Gives me a little insight as to what to expect.

Still rollin with schneider, things are definitely not as good as they were last year, my first 3 days back on the road they "cancelled" 2 loads, one of them was a rely load and was already dropped at the OC. Ofcourse they lied about that telling me the customer cancelled the load on the shipping end, then the other load just happened to be a great paying load, something you hardly see anymore here at the pumpkin patch. I can deal with the BS rates, but when i spend lots of time piecing together a whole week just to have them play games is beyond awesome. Im still making it work, for now. Hanging on the thought of better days, but I honestly think this is what they want. The days of me netting 2200-2600 are long gone, and probably most of the drivers used to making that income are now replaced with drivers used to making 300-400 on the company side, to make 800-900 and their in heaven. It is what it is though, I've got a year and change left on my lease.

I've mainly been running the same lanes, this week i got in a jam and took a load to wilmer tx, picked up there too heading back east. I've only been to Texas a handful of times since being here. I was tempted to take a load to CO but i was scared I'd be trapped out there since most the loads going east aren't enough to cover my costs. I do miss going out there though.

There's a driver on Facebook who was asking about the program and stated he'd be happy making $600/wk after taxes..smh..

That's the biggest issue with a lot of these programs now. Because most of the drivers that get into trucking now days start off making $300-500/week, barely surviving on the road and making money to pay the bills at home, when they get offered the chance to make $800-1,000/week, basically doubling what they make now, they jump at the chance never really know or understanding how much money they are getting swindled out of. It's sad to see this happen. The Choice program was a good program and still has some positives it sounds like, but they aren't out weighing the new negatives that have accumulated the past year.

If you ever get tired of Schneider you can come over to Oakley Trucking our terminal is in Little Rock, Arkansas. You can refuse loads and go home when you want. I net at least 2600 a week here. We are paid loaded and empty plus a a .05 (annual bonus)a mile for all loaded miles. That bonus miles pay increases .01 a year with no cap. Just throwing it out if anyone is interested. I almost went to Schneider but chose Oakley instead.

This is the new trucking. Get rid of the old hands that were around for the "good ole days" & hire drivers that will work for nothing. Then show those new drivers how they can double their check if they buy/lease a truck. These new drivers don't know any different as far as how good trucking used to be. It's an ongoing cycle to lower driver pay. Guys that trucked before me (I've been doing it 19 yrs) tell how good it used to be. Now we talk about how good it used to be. It keeps declining with more regulations & less pay. I see myself getting out in the next 5 years if it goes where I think it's going.
