I use a QQLinx Eagle Eye cam with a 32GB micro card. I have it mounted on a Ram Mount brand camera mount from Amazon, fastened to the overhead console where the CB is in my Columbia using the threaded camera mount port on the top of the cam. I power it thru a cigarette lighter receptacle I connected in the electrical wiring that powers the CB so I didn't have power cord hanging around. Great 185 degree view with 1080p resolution. Very good nighttime capability. Caught it on special at newegg for about $74 and free shipping. Normally the cost is twice that amount. The power port doubles as a micro USB port so I can download video clips to the laptop easily when I need to using a USB to Micro USB cable. While it will loop video clips, I can lock video clips quickly so they are not overwritten with the large lock button on the camera. Very easy to set up and use.

Terry270, natanishe and brian991219 Thank this. -
I've had a bunch of dash cams over the last 8-9 years. I researched them to death , it was like an ocd for a while. I only had one cam out of about 10 actually stop working and it was that Garman 30 that's out now. I'm sending it back to the manufacture because after 30 days the truckstop won't take it . Didn't get 2 months out of it and the firmware had too many glitches. 199.00 waist
But I have also been surprised by a Chinese cam loaded up with GPS and online mapping for under 50.00 ... just luck
Rule of thumb, their are basically 2 common software formats and of course newer versions of those.
Novitech and Ambarella .. I think Novi is Chinese and Ambarella is Korean.
Ambarella is by far the most sophisticated...get the latest version
The best dashcams are built Korea . Chinese knockoffs using Novi are everywhere.
Sure knockoffs will work but the lenses and software are the reason they are only 30.00 .
So, imo. Go into a search engine look for a cam with Ambarella software GPS and the Sony lenses ... go wifi if you can. Makes for fast proof via your phone without having to pull the sd card and search around on your computer.
AS FAR AS PRICE? Expect to pay 80.00 to 150.00 for a decent cam. Play with it and if you want double down ... your next cam can have more toys light red light camera warning .
For me... just the basic 99.00 forward facing cam running 24/7 . No fancy stuff to screw up. Good luck. -
I just found the QQLinx Eagle Eye on Top Dawg Electronics for $70 as compared to about $150 on most sites.

That is $4 lower than I got one at Newegg. Pays to shop around!

Something I learned living in the south. If Joe has it for x$, then somewhere it can be bought for less. LOL

I would like to recommend one to you. I am a Garmin fan as I know the folks who started the company and I have some of the original stock.
I just added a Garmin 770 DeziCam. It is a combination GPS and built in Dash cam. I have a 64 gig chip I put in it. It comes with a 16 gig but I like lots of film available encase I meet a Julie Roberts.
The screen is almost as big as the regular 770 and I love how it mounts on the windshield. Cost is 499 but it replaces the need for a stand alone GPS. I cannot say enough good things about it. JMO -
Upon closer scrutiny the Eagle Eye cam on Top Dawg is only 120* wide angle lens. Evidently some are 120 and some are 185.

I use SatPro. It's a little expensive since you have to get a dedicated satellite to follow you, but you can't beat the overhead view.
Just kidding. Was using a cobra somecrap. Now using a GoPro hero 5basketcase64 Thanks this.
