Soon as I drop tomorrow morning I'll head to the nearest CAT shop.
I pretty much live on my jake either for speed control or stopping/slowing. So not having it and relying only on my brakes is eating at me. This is not my driving style.

Petro in Georgia did a PM service... I normally do them at home. But it was due and didnt think they could screw that up.
When engine started running rough I was just outside Lake Charles, La. Had it towed to Louisiana CAT off Broad st. It was only there for 2 days. I'm thinking they pinched a wire when they closed up the valve cover. But you could be right.. there could be more going on in the over head. Thats why I have the jake turned off for now.
I had the studs upgraded 2 yrs ago when I had the engine and injector harness replaced. That was the first over head I had done to this truck.
Hoping none of the studs are broken/cracked/stretched.
CAT in Brooksville Fla has been pretty good to me. I'm too far out to set anything up at home. I'm committed to one more load for this broker. Plan is to get loaded after I drop.. then check into CAT. I dont have a set delivery time for that load.
HurstCat sdp Thanks this. -
Both.. the injector harness has 2 seperate harness and then I did the engine harness from the ecm to everything around the engine. That was done 2 yrs ago.
What Freightliner just replaced was from the 2nd plug on the ecm that goes back up into the cab.
I agree. I really need to get more hands on with things like this so in the future I can handle it myself.

How was the ECM reflashed ?
-
Just an FYI, the technical term for that is the OEM engine harness.Hurst Thanks this.
-
It was done out side of the truck due to the oem harness being out of whack.
I was told he flashed the stock 435/1650 file and did the injector calibration tables. Not sure how they can do that while not in the truck. Either way.. I'm going to give em hell tomorrow and get this sorted out and working like its supposed to be.
I have a guy in Fla who will put the 500/1850 file back in when I get home.

Its all good.
A year from now I can make posts and hopefully help someone else with a similar problem.
Hurstalbert l, CasanovaCruiser, tucker and 1 other person Thank this. -
I'm addmittedly not a CAT guy. Out of 180+ trucks, we've got 2 contract maintenance tractors with C15s in them. With that said, I'd bet that CAT pulled the injector cals out of the ECM before reflash and then put the same codes it had in it back into the ECM.
It's also common that guys will program the injector trim codes on CATs with the trim code that will deliver the most amount of fuel. So, they'll use one code for all trucks they touch. The significant majority of the time this makes the truck have a bit more power and does not cause issues. Every once in a while it causes a miss (if one cylinder delivers 2x more fuel than it's sister cylinder, you'll feel a miss).Hurst and cumminskid123 Thank this. -
On an a-cert, you can not put hot trim. Codes in. There is a 12 digit file you have to load for each injector. They are not like the single turbo e-model ' s that have a 4 digit code you can play with. You can transfer the files from one ecm to another. If not you need a cd rom disk with each file per injector.
