    Hello,

I am interested in working for Valley Transportation out of Ashland, Ohio, they are a steel hauling company. I have had a break in verifiable driving but have a current cdl a and no violations. I did go thru cdl a school in Toledo, Ohio back in 2000 and only drove part time for small companies. Does anyone know if they hire people in that situation and any info on them? Thanks

I looked into Valley when I was in school. Your pay starts off at 25% BOL, and their average BOL is $1200. I can't remember how many loads per week their guys typically haul, or what pay increases look like. Their terminal is very nice; they keep the garage clean and organized, and their entire lot is concrete, no gravel or dirt. Probably one of the best things about them is they're small, so you'll have a name not just a number. If you want more info, call them and ask for Sean. As for your situation, you'll most likely have to take a refresher course no matter what company you go with. Good luck.

call the safety guy, who I think is also the top dog. He might want you to take a refresher, or maybe he'll just personally take you out for a test drive .. Depends on ins reqs I'm sure. I do know they take guys right out of CDL school.

Jim H is who u need to talk with. You can make good money there if you are willing to "cook your books". They tell you at orientation that "your trainer will show you how to do your logs so you can make money". I myself got no problem with that but if you try to tell a dispatcher that you're out of hours they don't want to hear it and could leave you sitting.

Jim H is who you need to talk to. He doesn't sugar coat nothing and he is to the point. Told me if I didn't like what I heard, then I need to go elsewhere. I really like the fact he didn't sugar coat anything and gave me the cold hard facts. Can't wait to start Monday morning.

I've heard it's decent, take new grads, probably be running a lot and they're on paper logs. Recruiter said they have no plans of going on elogs until they have to, which prob means you'll be "finessing" the log book. I think they are decent company to start with from what I heard. Keep your truck clean and tidy
