I know how you feel, moved ONE customized (read that as gaudy) 24' Sprinter conversion van from Cali. to Texas, value was stated at 600,000 dollars, delivered it to Vin Diesel"s house.

Screw that! I hate the nice stuff. If you seen most of my freight you would look the other way...which is what I like. No one cares if you scratch a rolled over 2006 tundra. People crawl all over a corvette.

This is exactly why I miss hauling salvage from Copart.

Actually, you'd be surprised. Some customers will ship some expensive automobiles on an open-deck carrier. I don't know if they are looking at the cheaper rate or if they don't know any better. I know I've had some seriously expensive cars on my trailer before and it usually boiled down to one of those reasons. I've always hated transporting high-end cars because, with an open-deck trailer, you have expensive cargo being exposed to the elements and God-knows-what else.

I figure that if you have the money to afford cars like these then you shouldn't cheap out on the transport; just pay the extra money and get an enclosed transport. Otherwise you run the risk of tree limbs scratching up the body, or maybe the cars will get pelted by hailstorms. Even if that doesn't happen, cars still get plenty dirty on an open-deck transport.

I hauled exotic cars for a few months.Never used an open trailer. It wasn't easy loading them especially the Lamborghini because it sat so low.I teamed with a guy.I think I did most the work loading and unloading because he was too big to get inside some of the cars to drive them on and off our homemade ramps and couldn't fit in the trailer to wrap the cars.We hauled a few Bentleys to the Bronyx,i couldn't believe how expensive those cars are.But they sure are beautiful. We also hauled a toy helicopter to this home in Colorado, his backyard was a canyon. It was the most breathtaking home I have ever seen.He gave me and my partner each a $40.00 tip.
