If I could get legitimate tickets for one stop I did. But not anything petty.

    More RPMs equal worse MPG.

Forgot, Im hooks to a reefer. So y'all think driving at 1500 in 9 is more fuel efficient than 10 just above lugging?

Lower rpms is torque and requires more gas pedal to accelerate. Could get away with it on flatland but ups and downs you'd want higher rpm. Otherwise you'll lose speed and fuel working the engine at the lower range.

I've found that climbing from phoenix to flagstaff. Higher rpms shaved 15 minutes and added .3 per gallon in fuel economy. But that was in a 05 w900 isx 450. I'm sure fuel economy mapping has changed greatly since that year.

It's a very fine line between fuel and power and what works best between the 3 different engines. Best bet is to have one of them Kevin Rutherford gauges that plugs in to the computer socket. Best tool and probably the only tool to teach you the best fuel economy. But it's a lot of work trying different legs of a trip when your running around in the west coast mountains.

A lot of factors make up fuel economy. Winter air vs. summer air. High altitude vs. low altitude. Flatland vs. climbing. Weight of load. Van trailer vs. flatbed trailer. Fuel blend. You can fuel up at the same truckstop every day and still get different mileage. Also the chains. Flying J is the worst vs. some mom and pop that sells a high blend of bio. For instance.

Cops won't bother you unless your doing something else. There are very few trucks that actually drive the speed limit in california. And the lady governor isn't happy about the speeding trucks.

When i first started driving that state i drove 55. And EVERYONE was passing me. I'd watch trucks FLY by and cops just sitting there. So i stepped up to 60. Even 65 if i knew the area and knew no cops would be around. Driving 55 can really consume your day.

I've had CHP blow past me while I was running 65mph on I-15 between Vegas and Barstow and on I-10 between the Banning scales and Blythe. Only time I got eyeballed was when I got stuck in the #4 lane on CA57 after the merge with CA60.

Well I don't know about this rigid logic. If the laws are plainly stupid, a free man in America in his constitutional right to pursue happiness, may be forced to circumvent them, so that no law will obstruct such pursuit. For example, if everybody were to follow law, we'd still have British rule on this land. Or perhaps California would still belong to Mexico. Let's separate the magnitude of breaking stupid bureaucratic laws such as 55mph on Mohave desert, or that antiquated Bridge Law from Ten Commandments and be reasonable. So yes, there is a difference when someone runs 65 mph with an over-weighed ### and someone who will siphon up fuel from somebody else's tanks or drive with expired plates. And perhaps the officials seeing the absurdity of it should change the legislature. On the other hand, with accordance to your statement, quite many outlaws there in Cal on I 15.

Now, There is little tolerance in I 80 between Nevada and SF. Little tolerance on 99 all the way. But CHP don't seem to bother anyone on I-5, I-10, I-15 if below 65mph on a desert. Though you must know that you are breaking the law!!!!
