I went to a CDL mill school in Georgia and passed pretrip and backing, but I failed the road test. Unfortuantely, this school only gives you 2 tries to pass. I am looking to go to another school in Utah and am wondering if I go to a CDL mill school there, will I have to take pretrip and backing all over again, or will I just have to do the road test?
Does CDL testing info transfer from state to state?

Yeah it's all or nothing best bet is to try Millis Transfer only a small up front but the best cdl company and once you are through training you cane get home every weekend.
Nomatter where you go it's starting over but if you passed it once another should be no problem.CallOfTheWild Thanks this. -
well that sucks. I'd rather not do pretrip and backing all over again. Hell, I'd rather not go to another school and start all over again. I've been at this school for 40 days. I wonder if I stay in Georgia and rent a truck, will I not have to do pretrip and backing since I am still within the state.
I should ask the school if I could pay them out of pocket to take the test again since both of my free attempts are gone. -
I know a CDL school in Utah you could go to and most likely pass with no problem--even if you had to re-do pretrip/backing.25(2)+2 Thanks this.

If you passed it once.. you can pass it again.

You failed the road test twice? Am I reading that wrong?
You have to take all three parts of the test each time until you pass all three. As far as I know, Georgia DDS will let you take it as many times as you want, but you have to set up a new appointment each time. If you're going to rent a truck and go on your own you'll have to have someone drive the truck to the testing facility for you. And they will have to have a way to come and get the truck if you fail out on the road. So you'll need to take a car also. That actually happened to a student from the CDL school I went to. He hit a curb going around a corner and she told him to pull it over. -
Some food service companies hire drivers as "driver helpers" with only the cdl permit then give you 60 - 90 days to pass the cdl test at the DMV. Not all terminals do this so you may have to shop around. At least your receiving a paycheck while learning.
You apply for "driver helper" with these companies:
Reinhart Foodservice
McLane Foodservice
Sygma Network
Gordon Foodservice
Performance Food Group
US Foods
Sysco
Southeastern Freight - I'd put this company as a first choice. -
You can not take a permit issued by one state and skills test in another. YOU MUST START THE PROCESS OVER. I'm not 100% sure but I don't even think permits are uploaded to the clearing house system anyway. This is VERY IMPORTANT. If you get a permit in one state and are stopped in another the Officer might not be able to find your permit in the system. If this happens you might find yourself in some VERY SERIOUS TROUBLE. Remember a class A CDL permit is not valid unless you also have in your possession your original DL.

OK if all else fails read the OPs post not the replies because doing so can make you look like a #######. You have not provided enough information. DID YOU GO TO Ga DEPT OF DRIVERS SERVICE AND TAKE THE WRITTEN TESTS? If not you HAVE NO testing to transfer even if you could. If I am reading between the lines right you have these permits. YES you can go anywhere in Georgia and skills test until that permit expires. NO you can not go anywhere outside of Georgia and do it.
