Point well taken. However it wasn't the 33k that I was referring to that I wouldn't admit to

it was the fact that it was a union job and only making 33k. Free full benefits in the long term that it is a good thing. However in the current we can't live off insurance and retirement it's the pay overall at the time that we have to live on. But I will admit now that I am approaching that much closer to the age of 50 I am looking more closely at that .And 33 k for a union gig just to say I have somebody representing me does not fit well with me personally is all . when I can make better than that without so-called representation.

Enough. More than I ever made at a job before... and then some. I don't care about the exact number.

I was 17 the year I entered the Air Force. For the last 4 or so years before that I was doing whatever was needed at a tire shop. Being a minor The owner would not allow me to operate a Tire changer ( I did though when we got busy), He also did not allow me to work around or with the guys in the recap shop (although they did teach me how to recap car tires, small trucks tires and the big tires for tractor trailers.) Once I turned 16 and got my drivers license I was using the owners station wagon and using a small trailer took tires to his other shop about 35 minutes away. Backing that trailer up off that main highway was my early baptismal by fire. I don't really remember what my wage was but it make me feel like I had won the lottery and had all the money in the world. During my Air Force years I was in transportation. I did not officially drive any of the trucks and things but my job in maintenance sometimes required me to get a ride out to where a truck might be parked and bring it back. This is where I first drove an articulating vehicle. BY the time I got out of the AF I was 4 months shy of my 23rd birthday. Worked for several months with my father who taught me how to drive those double shift Macks. My education in trucking started early and today almost 40 years later I am here. Because of my epilepsy I can no longer drive ANY vehicle but I do have coffee with friends and other still active truckers. I wish I could train, but any chance of that got dashed the day I got those test results and sent that letter to the Virginia DMV about my disease and turning in my CDL. Today I mostly hang out at TTR and get called names I can't repeat in here. Life is good.

We hire new guys right out of school tough learning curve but once you get it you'll get it. You need to get a route right away which isn't a problem if your in a market where we have new warehouses usually you can jump right in and go to town. Aberdeen,MD or Douglasville,VA the company in the newer markets has openings for chain drivers I think they advertise a $1,200 a week garentee.

Not that I know of they must have reached there quota. It'll be up there though again probably soon enough if you haven't found anything yet.
