If you see you're going into a curve too fast, just hit the brakes. Don't even worry about gears at that point.

Another "automatic speed demon"? If the auto is wanting to keep accelerating, then find a way to defeat this tendency.

I've never driven an auto. Are they prone to continuous speeding beyond truck stop safe speed like I've heard?

I don't know if you're kidding or not, but you dont want to be heavy on the binders in a curve.

Just go with the same thing i tell new drivers, especially flatbeders,

Your a big truck, people expect you to be slow and in the way.

    Dont disappoint them.

The severity of the curves depend on what your speed should be.We have one of those exits here.Speed limit says 25 I always traveled between 10 to 15 mph and in the winter 5.Once you see the sign for an exit start downshifting so you're at the right gear and speed once you enter the exit. This is why it's important to look far ahead at all times so you won't be in for any not so fun surprises.

Go slow, dont let anyone rush you. I do mean anybody. When approaching a ramp keep your rpms up by choosing the next lower gear and have engine brake on. This way if you think you may be going too fast you can just let off the throttle and rapidly slow the truck before you enter the turn. Never rush, make full stops and approach truckstops and locations 10 miles an hour slower than you think you need to, so you can scan where youre going and get an idea of the layout and where you need to go. Your skills/confidence will gradually build and when they do you wont look back and think ' I wish I drove faster when I was starting out'. But if you rush theres a very good chance youll look back and wish you went slower and or got out to look.
