This year; thus far I'm at: 32,164 (dated 10/13/16).
Working for the Big Blue Screw.
I've been thinking about looking at NAPPI distributors... I have an 'in' and it's team unload (a driver + an assistant)... thoughts, Mike?
My apprehension is its a B-Class rig, and i have alot of pride put into an A.BostonTanker and Mike2633 Thank this. -
Probably make more then 32,000k one thing to remember with local delivery your going to be into the B Class stuff or Class 7 A trucks because of where you have to go. However they may have an A Truck for internal movements meaning breweries/Wienery to company warehouses/depots.
Even GFS while not common in my area, does have straight trucks they have lots of 10 wheelers in Toronto and 10 wheelers are very common in Toronto every company has them. Our warehouse in Aberdeen has 2 big straights and 2 small straights.
To me I'm more of what ever they want. Remember this commission job like where I work were paid by case not by much of any thing else well 10 wheeler route with 700 cases will pay the same as a tractor trailer with 700 cases.
RL Lipton here in C-Town has both A and B trucks and a lot of there B truck drivers don't want to up grade they don't want the bigger truck with more stops and hassle.
However I'm going to let you in on a secret in the local delivery business A or B what ever they run if they want it to fit they make it fit.
RL Liptons 12 bay B trucks when they want and they have can match a 14-16 bay A truck side loader when they want to.
The beer company I worked for was all A trucks and when the routes got heavy I would be in a 16 or 18 bay usually 16, but that was them being nice spreading the load out. However if they had to they could have stuffed 700 cases in a 14 bay. RL Lipton has stuffed 600+ in a 12 bay B truck.
Remember this when CF first started and was running there "truck and trailer combo" they learned you take an inch an inch off the thickness of a side wall and they could increase cargo capacity.
You live in Maine yes? I don't know how busy this beverage company you work for is and how many routes they have.
Here in C-Town during the big holidays all the beer companies get buried alive.
Cavalier distributing which has all the European books they have a fleet of F-550 box trucks and like 2 16ft Hinos with refers. I don't know how they did it but they put a S-Ton of kegs in that 16 foot box truck and that kid worked his rear end off his name was Mike too and you know it's all about money.
If the beer company paid more then Werner I would say look into it. I've heard from people who worked there though and this is just what I have heard and the info is a little old now. But Werner is really not that awful I mean benefits start on day 1. Are you on a dedicated account I mean $32,000 sounds low to me but I've also heard this has been kind of a meager year for truck load companies?
However I would think the beverage company would be able to match what you are doing at Werner. Where I worked I got a flate rate, case commission and hourly pay.
In October the route might have had some slow days but I was clearing from the bank $1,200 every two wheeks when I was doing beer. My route though was hit or miss it could be heavy at times but it also got light at times too. I wouldn't say it was feast or famine, but you would need to ask this beer company what there pay structure is like.KillingTime Thanks this. -
I have to look day after tommorow so far YDT I'm at like $57,000 maybe even a tad more I'll have to see. Have to get ready for the big thanks giving/ Christmas Volume truck extra run pay extravaganza.
I've also done a lot of extra this year worked down at the ware house in the road division and did a tour of duty in our Mid Atlantic Division in The warehouse in Aberdeen,MD.
Our warehouse in Massechusets is kind of to far from you but come November there going to be adding chain routes would pay more then "the big blue screw" lol!KillingTime Thanks this. -
43,000 gross, though I worked for 2 different companies in that time (PAM, WERNER). Did team, would have made more but we took a month and a half off.
