As long as YOU realize you're being an #######. Nose in parking is what it is. I get it I usually sick out of most spots because I'm 76 feet long and my rear trailer axle is only a few feet off the DOT bumper. If you are going to nose in maybe you should check and make sure you aren't blocking a person in like the OP.
-
Oh I wasn't blocked in. I was to the left of the photo. It was just a perfect opportunity to show new drivers why I don't take those corner spots. They're tempting because you only have one neighbor and it's usually a big space but it can backfire badly.roadrunningx18, tucker and kylefitzy Thank this.

Whether I'm hooked to a flat, hopper, or end dump, I take up JUST AS MUCH space pulled in or backed in. Even hooked to a van, if the parking space is such that I feel it would be best to nose in, I will. Backed in, MY truck is vulnerable to the pathetic excuses for truck drivers who can't seem to navigate their way around a truck stop or get parked without dragging their trailer across another truck. Nosed in, MY truck doesn't get damaged if/when that happens. I couldn't care less if you think I'm an ####### or not for protecting MY investment and MY paycheck. Don't like it? Tough ####. Like I said, when you agree to pay for 100% of whatever costs may arise from having my nose ripped off while I'm parked, and YOU are the one who gets to fight with that other driver's insurance (IF they even bothered to stop & leave their info) for reimbursement, then and ONLY then will I take into consideration which direction MY truck is facing while I'm parked. As long as it is ME who has to cover those expenses while I fight for sufficient reimbursement, then your opinion on the matter really DOESN'T matter.
I park however I deem necessary to best protect MY ability to continue working and earning a living.dunchues, cnsper and Rusty Trawler Thank this. -
Once many years ago I stopped at that TA in Hudson WI back when it was ridiculous.
It was Fri afternoon of memorial weekend.
Werner parked and went in for lunch.
I watched a frikken idiot come along and destroy his front end.
So much for Werner getting home for the holiday.
But the idiot was fine, only scratched his trailer.
When you park at night it doesn't matter how good you are, it matters how good the guy coming later will be.
And so I park accordingly.tlalokay, d281833 and Pedigreed Bulldog Thank this. -
Even without blocking anyone, the problem with nosing in is that most of the time, it makes it difficult for other to park and rest. That simply takes up too much space. Some a--holes nose in and don't even bother to fold down their ridiculous rear fairings.
Chewy352 Thanks this. -
You got that right, where and how I park is totally dictated by the access the next guy is gonna have. Won't stop everything but works for me nonetheless.Rusty Trawler Thanks this.

I never nose in myself, but I do try to always back in between two trucks, or at least next to one, to reduce the odds of getting hit on either side.
roadrunningx18 and Chewy352 Thank this. -

Yeah...and everybody else as well!!! Way to go driver!

There is such a thing as nosing in and caring about whether you're blocking someone.
Nosed in one particular time and noticed I would be blocking the corner spot truck. Got out, walked over and asked if he was leaving soon. He replied quickly with what time he was leaving the following morning and I made sure to move to another open, easier to back into spot before he had to leave.
Sorry, but what's with the beeping reverse warning on tractors? Seems kind of useless aside from annoying everyone within ear shot at 1am. Those trucks should be required to nose in anytime after 10pm.d281833 and Rusty Trawler Thank this.
