This one's a bit unusual, but still useful for trucking. Get the free "Windity" app and it shows you the winds, with color coding of speeds, direction, and currents. It's actually an aviation app so the wind speeds are in knots, but it's still useful for trip planning with that empty dry van as the app displays wind at ground level.

But I use TP all the timebzinger and RustyChops41 Thank this. -
Beside these I also have weather apps. Particularly http://www.pykl3radar.com/ I use Wind Alert to monitor crosswinds.
PS if you think this is excessive you ought to see my photo editing app folder. LOL

Truckerpath ftw.
Screwed me a cple of times however. To my knowledge, Wisconsin DOT are all over that app. Got pulled for a random level 3 inspection in Pleasant Prairie, WI scale. Overhead 3-4 WI dot troopers having a ball on that app while I was getting my paperwork. Even to the extent "Just updated it show close. Hey xxxxxxx, signal all trucks in and turn off bypass". LOL. -

Don't forget an app that records phone calls. Don't be taken advantage of by shady companies and record everything.

My thoughts on the apps I use regularly:
Trucker's Path: I suggested to them that you can only update parking status or weigh station status if your GPS is close to the location, to prevent drivers from trying to discourage other drivers from using a truck stop or pass a weigh station. Within hours the tech support team replied to me, thanking me for the suggestion. Within days that was incorporated in a new update. TP is THE app for planning where to stop.
MyRadar: I drive a lot in "Tornado Ally". MR is a lifesaver. It is THE app running on my smartphone (on a magnetic mount on the dash). Turn on the wind layer and you have immediate access to wind conditions and storms in your location. It also gives you audible weather alerts, like flood warnings, severe thunderstorm warnings, and tornado watches and alerts.
Fuel Book: for those that can choose where to fuel, especially if you have discounts, this app will save a ton of money. Enter your discount code from your company and search for the cheapest fuel nearby or on your route.
For those that get loads off of load boards:. Truckloads (by Trucker's Path) and 123Loadboard are my most used apps for finding loads. Even if you are currently a company driver, use these apps to see if loads are generally available for your equipment going to where you want to go.
Google Maps:. I ALWAYS use Google Maps, Satellite View, and Street View if I am going to an unfamiliar location. It's saved my bacon numerous times. The customer address might take you to where cars enter, but in Street View you can read the sign that says "Truck Entry on 10th Street". -
Teddy_Salad and Rusty Trawler Thank this.
