Use the hotel's wifi to watch movies on Netflix, with your phone. Save as much money as you can, it'll be a while before your next paycheck.

The fact that drivers have to ask this question demonstrates the systemic silliness that infects so many trucking companies.

There's no #### reason a driver who hasn't even been issued a truck can't have a few beers.

 

Shouldn't be any reason, no... But rules are written for the lowest common denominator for any given company....

 

They probably own or lease the hotel.

 

This must be the kind of guy who buys the beer at truck stops and blows all his money at the slots there.

 

To the OP...

If you are going to have a few do NOT do it in your hotel bar.
And make sure you do not drink anything within a 12 hour period of waking up the next morning.
If you are given a breath test and blow even a .001 you will be out.

 

When I was in my third week in trucking school this dumba@# of a guy who got a pre hire from Stevens Trans went out to Dallas for orientation and training his second day there (story goes) end of day he decided to get a 6 pack and have a good ol time in his hotel room that night . He was sent packing the next morning. Come on you basically on probation for a DRIVING JOB and you want to drink. Hell ya let's get some coke to so we can stay up all night and go over our pre trip.... Why not I say go for it!!!!
