Ahh, feels great to talk with current May truckers in person, new and experienced, and relate to the BS, office politics, and hardships we have to go through. That and jamming to my music makes #### days go by sooo much easier.
I'm still looking for better trucking opportunities that are more to my niche, like a good paying line haul gig with consistent schedule, so I'll stay to get enough experience with the training companies and move on.
Unhappy working at May Trucking

Most ltls require a year experience. Estes requires 2. But depends on your area up in the northeast they take guys fresh out of school. But most guys running linehaul with a bit of seniority are pulling in 70-100k a year. Sometimes more I've heard ups feeder drivers can pull in around 150k! Most times you need to go on their website under careers to see openings. They dont post in sites like indeed unless they have too. I've been trying to break into LTL for a while now. It's hard when you don't live by a terminal but some like usf holland and Estes offer "regional" linehaul gigs. Out 5 days home 2. This is good if you live over an hour away from a terminal. When frieght picks up in the spring hopefully I can make the switch. Best of luck to ya burrito. Keep that cdl clean!Burrito Warrior Thanks this.

Good choice. It won't last forever but it will set you up for a better future.Burrito Warrior Thanks this.

Mountain Valley Express will probably hire you right now for line haul.
KKW Trucking will probably hire you right now.Burrito Warrior Thanks this. -
Most ltl gigs will hire a newb for city work if you have a CDL school certificate. linehaul is a bit harder to get because we get paid more and will require a year or 2 of experience. Old Dominion will give you a shot at line with no experience just CDL school. You will need haz mat, doubles/triples and tanker.
Like most jobs you will start at the bottom and work your way up with experience usually starting on the extra board. I did OTR for 1 month with Pride and it sucked. I jumped shipped and honestly it set me back. I'm glad I left but I had to struggle for awhile until I had the experience of get the job I have now, which I love. I stay in hotels, work 4-5 days a week and home weekends. Sometimes I run nights some days just depends. Really easy job. Read the ltl forum.Fuelinmyveins and Burrito Warrior Thank this. -
I personally would rather watch all 5 original "Planet Of The Apes" movies out of sequence than be governed at 60-61 mph.
Ooops, Burrito Warrior and highwayman Thank this. -
Heh. I spent 6 months goverened at 55 in the deep south with DM Bowman of WIlliamsport. 6 months of being in fear of rammed in the ### from 80 mph traffic coming off fancy gap. I finally quit. It's ########.RustyChops41 Thanks this.

Not as fun as it looked in Smokey and the Bandit huh ? .. seriously though , sounds like you may not be cut out for it ... it takes awhile for it to get better, and then still no promise you'll ever be cut out for it. .. good luck in whatever you do
x1Heavy Thanks this.
