Did Estes remove their filters? The story is pretty vague, if the feds can go into a trucking company in Florida and cite them for not having a DPF on their truck... THAT would be a game changer. Can you imagine being a 4 truck dirt hauling operation in Ohio and have the EPA hand you a $20,000 ticket for not having DPF on your truck? Pretty vague story.

Pre-2007 trucks didn't have DPF to remove. CARB required adding them to trucks that were built without them. My 2001 Mack doesn't even have EGR, let alone DPF or SCR. Never did. Never will.

No, the EPA fined estes for violating CARB laws -- not putting filters on trucks used inside California. They would not have fined estes if they used those trucks in other states.

"The Environmental Protection Agency’s settlement with Estes Express Lines was the first federal enforcement action against a company for violating California’s tough regulations to slash emissions of toxic diesel soot and smog-forming pollutants from diesel trucks."

WOW! If you live in Ohio and have one truck, unelected bureaucrats from the EPA can enter your office and write you a ticket just because you drove in California six months ago? If you don't think our government is out of control...

He has to show me HIS CITATION not a guy he knows or a friend of a friend. EPA is going to offices, CARB isn't citing out of state trucks. There is something else going on with this, Im going to guess (just a guess, no evidence) that the company had some sort of delete or modification to get the attention of the feds.
