I searched but found a lot of old threads, so I'm hoping to get some more current information, from drivers with knowledge of this specific terminal's operations. I am in the process of determining if I am going to make a move from OTR dry van (with a different company) to the regional tanker division out of Reserve, LA.
How long does the orientation/training in Houston actually take (they told me 2-3 weeks)?
Is the recruiter's estimate of a 1500 - 1900 miles a week average accurate?
Can I really expect 25% of my income to come from loading/unloading/clean outs/etc, or are they exaggerating the amount?
Are they good about getting you home on time?
What type of equipment are they using (new/good condition or raggedy/beat to ####)?
Any other useful/helpful things to know before committing to the move would be much appreciated. I don't expect any job to be all roses, but I'd like to at least have a realistic expectation of what to expect if I make this move official.
Any current Reserve LA regional tanker drivers around?
