Hello folks. I'm compiling a list of stuff to switch out or buy during my upcoming home time. Winterizing my clothing and getting ready. Its subfreezing where I am today. So finally I am cold. My tri pac APU isn't putting out any heat, but that's a different subject (and I can get it looked at). So far, I'm going to switch out my boots to insulated, better gloves, socks, etc.

Any great ideas on gear that works best while securing and tarping in freezing wind, cold and rain? Coveralls anyone? Thx as always.

I'd defiantly get a quality one piece Carhartt coverall...Keeps you warm and your clothes underneath clean.

Long johns top and bottom. Polyester tshirt. Fleece sweatshirt. Fleece jacket. Carhart insulated bibs. Carhart insulated coat. Leather work boots are fine down to -20, then switch to insulated boots.. Keep 2-3 pairs of gloves with you, once they're wet they are useless. Good toque/beanie and you should be set. If I need more than that its time to stay home.

Look for clothing lined with Thinsulate. It's real warm and not too expensive. Go for a layered form of dress. ie, long John's, warm shirt and pants.sweaters are great and have a good rain jacket within reach.

The layer thing works best because you can remove some stuff as needed plus the air between the layers helps to keep you warm.
Don't forget good socks, gloves and hat. Your head, hands and feet are the most sensitive areas in cold weather. Keep that fluid intake up as well. It's not always easy to drink even water when the weather is cold, but dehydration xxx causes chills in your body.

With all the great advice on how to keep warm. Don't be surprised to still see guys in flip flops during winter weather.

I like to use my cold weather gear I have from the military. Hard to beat a waffle top and the silks. You can buy them online
