From experience if you have an ACV policy. Please get the truck appraised by a certified appraisal service once a year. In the event of total loss that's a pretty given amount. Or so my insurance just told me.

I hate to ruin your legendinmyownmind story, but at 23 (last year) I insured a 96 Truck under a brand new authority for unlimited radius pulling 80k trailers for 16k a year. I got a driving record about a mile long. 81 in a 60,failure to yield, two left lane violations in California, seat belt violations. Probably some more I can't think of right now.

Bought a 95 this year and insured it also no problem.

Oh and I pull the highest risk cargo that exists just about (cattle). All done with progressive.

That's not the way it works. Insure it for 30k you get 30k if totaled.

The down side to that is most insurance companies won't insure a $10k book value truck for $30k. Those that will, will have cost prohibitive premiums.

If you'll be cool and not get anymore tickets in a few years you'll be paying half that in insurance.

Depends entirely on where he is located.....Progressive has just taken a 30% increase in Trucking for hire rates in FL.....our liability only pricing runs from a low of around $ 5,500 to as high as $ 14,000 or so depending on which state and territory......tickets and accidents obviously have a material impact on driving price up.....but the more data we as an industry have collected has move the market toward credit rating factors (called insurance scoring), new venture/new entrant increased pricing and less availability etc.....so no doubt a oo with 10+ years on the road with his own authority and no tickets and no losses can pay a "cheap" premium, but it's getting to the point that as a oo if you don't fit into the above wheelhouse you are going to be paying more.

Kinda like then there cats in their early to mid 20'swith a wheelbarrow full of traffic violations, and a hint of super trucker mentality to boot?? Those are the ones with the higher insurance policy correct? Kinda thought so..... Gotta get a Tums now, be safe out there.
