Back in '84, running steel tanks from Hamilton, ON to NYC, made it into the U.S. but had to shut her down just outside Buffalo, NY, roads all shut down.....Seemed like it never stopped snowing east of Buffalo once it starts....

96' I was six, and dug the deepest f'n tunnels in our backyard ever. Dad also foresaw the impending storm and wasn't stuck out on the road when they shut the east coast down.

I only know from second hand stories I'm told about storms like "the blizzard of 77" my Dad used to say.

For myself it was just in November 2014 when Buffalo NY got hammered with 7 feet or so of snow over a day or two. Completely shut down western New York as well as the border crossing there. Was closed for the better part of a week. Lots of load offers then lol

My most memorable blizzard were the German chocolate ones they used to sell at Dairy Queen years ago with pecans and coconut. They haven't had them for a long time though. mmmmm

The 1978 blizzard that hit the Midwest. Here in Indiana the army corp of engineers had to dig us out.

You can take Hwy 30 and go around Elk Mountain rather than over it.
I agree with 1977, 1978 was almost as bad.

I was in that one, as well. Managed to get into the TA in Pembroke AFTER the Thruway was closed. Me and three 4-wheelers came in.

Took us an hour and a half to make the trip from Batavia to Pembroke (approximately 12 miles). Snow was blowing across so fast I couldn't see the hood mounted mirrors. It was so cold drivers were having trouble getting from their trucks to the truck stop, even the guys who were lucky enough to land a close spot.

Got stuck there for close to two days. Toom me an hour to get enough snow off the load to be mostly legal when I finally got released.
