    Wooly, two things

    First are you talking about Adam Reitzell ll from Baden?

    If so that wasn't slavery they were sold into but indentured servitude.

    The second is this >>>>> not all drivers deserve to make $30k let alone $60k.

    The market for otr drivers is competitive. No one entity, either driver or company, can determine the market wage. The wage is set at where the marginal product of labor is equal to the marginal revenue of labor for the industry as a whole, not the individual driver or company.

    The wage will change due to demand factors such as:
    - change in productivity,
    - price of transportation service,
    - demand for the transportation. service.

    The wage will also change due to supply factors such as:
    - length of workweek,
    - participation rate,
    - demographic change
    * migration,
    * age structure,
    - skills required,
    - length of training.

    There are many ways to effect these factors. One thing that doesn't change is, as Captain Zoom said, "Our lives are what we make of them and a big part of that is how we choose to treat other people."
