You ain't understanding anything the grown ups are talking about. The reason for the hard first rotation is liquid on top the piston which is pushed out the exhaust valve after the first rotation. Retarded timing will also cause a hard first rotation, but will lack the smoke. Again the answer is in the smoke

The Einstein remark brought my grown up comment. Come back when your grown and have a little respect. The macho attitude impresses me none boy
-
Not trying to impress you..... Believe me. Trying to help the op solve his starting problem. I've scene delco starters hesitate on the first crank after 3 months of use. New starter solved the problem. Just my .02 cents. You don't have to go around shooting down the ideas of others.
-
In the op's first paragraph he didn't say anything about smoke after startup. He will have to let us know on that part but if there is then he might have problems like you guys say. All of the replies have been real good, I hope it's not a big problem especially after spending money on a overhaul.
The second paragraph explains a typical cold mode a Acert goes through until it warms up. Mine will stutter, hesitate and will blow blackish/gray smoke when it's pulling that stunt down the road until it warms up. Just my .02 Good luck OP and let us know what you find out.Duckman1005 Thanks this. -
What year truck is this in? Do you know what prefix acert you have?
-
Yes an Acert needs to be above 150 deg for the oil to be thin enough evacuate the vva, s. As wore out said the answer is in the smoke or in this case steam mixed with a little unburnt fuel.
-
Cold mode only last a few minutes. You will know when the idle climbs a 100 rpms then it is out of cold mode.
-
I can't imagine anyone not letting one warm up before dropping it in gear and hitting the road. But I drive ol rags so it's a requirement
-
I let my ole girl warm up and cool down before I touch the key! I don't care what these college educated engineers say!Roger McG, cnsper, Oxbow and 1 other person Thank this.
