I created this account to prevent my employer from tracing it to me.
I work for a company that leases drivers with pickups to deliver RVs. Probably 90% of our drivers have CDLs. Apparently, waiting to use the drivers until drug results come back isn't sitting well With management.
Today I received a box, to my attention, of at home drug tests. The kind you pick up from CVS if you think your kid is smoking pot. I asked the operations manager what they were for. His response was, "I can't afford to Have freight sit in my yard while I'm waiting for a drug test to come back. We're going to use these going forward. Don't worry, I'll get some gloves." And that was it. He walked away.
I'm fully aware of the regulations and how incredibly illegal this is. As a kicker, during an audit a few years back we received a five thousand dollar fine for using drivers before receiving negative results.
Opinions on what I should do would be greatly appreciated. Talking him out of it is not an option, as he also owns the company.

Get out. Or simply do not drive until your results come in. Paid for and processed properly. ALL you need to do is hold cup and aim. Anything else like buying kid kits on your own is very dangerous territory.
I think Uncle Sam will have a cow when drivers turn in kits instead of properly being given a drug test.
That employer will be blown up and destroyed by the government once they understand what is going in.Throwaway Thanks this. -
That's the thing. I work in the office, as the head of the safety department. I laughed when he told me, I thought this was a joke. Currently looking for another job but I need the paycheck until I can find something else.

Then you are the one standing closest to the bomb that's about to go boom. Already hit for this once, I don't even want to contemplate the ramifications for a second, but be sure it'll be a monstrous turd sandwich and you'll get a bite...a big one.BoyWander, tow614, passingthru69 and 1 other person Thank this.

Companies can self administer their own drug screening program.
Not sure about the details.
I read about it a few years back and decided it was easier paying for the service.
What do you have to wait for. Do so many drivers test positive.
People can drive while waiting for results if preliminary results are negative. -
IF it is improperly done or done outside the standard practices, YOU DO know that you are liable for this as someone who is in charge of the safety department? It doesn't matter if you leave, you know about it, didn't act on it in an official or personal capacity and it can be construed as you agreed with it to happen.

Look harder for that new job. You were worried enough in your first post to mention "I created this account to prevent my employer from tracing it to me." And then put here that you're the head of the safety department. Not a smart move.
That company needs to be turned in and closed down. Its businesses like this one that make the gov't keep coming up with stupid regulations that make it tougher for the rest of us to make a buck. -
Most of the bigger companies have a separate "Compliance" department. That way if there is a violation only a little fish has to go to jail.
