I think the majority of the people that post these topics are crybabies with poor nightvision who should not be driving at night. I've never been blinded by someone blinking their highbeams at me. The worst case scenario (oncoming HID/LED/LIGHTBARs) etc do not "blind" me. People are to fond of their hyperbole. The purpose it serves is the same as any other thing, it lets people know they've cleared enough room for the driver behind them to have a cushion to safely stop if something happens. That's the purpose, crying about it on a forum is what serves no purpose.
If you didn't care you wouldn't have posted. And it upsets a lot less people than it helps.mladen86 Thanks this. -
Just seems like the "I use my high beams how I want" crowd is growing everyday. Completely ridiculous. I've rolled up on four fatality accidents this month, and the disregard for sound logic and safety keeps growing. I'll continue to dim headlights or do nothing as I've always done. And quietly mutter foul language at the fools that think I need help to determine when to come back over.
When traffic is congested and a fellow traveler dims their lights and is willing to give up their safe following distance so I can get over from a shoulder hazard or if I got stuck in the hammer lane from some jerk getting on the highway that didn't let me back over, it's much appreciated, but don't even bother if your going to flash brights at night right when I'm looking at my mirrors.
I generally like a good four second lead to come back over because that's what I want when I get passed.otherhalftw, Big_D409, pocketaces and 5 others Thank this. -
For Christ's sake mate...Rusty Trawler Thanks this.

What winds me up is those morons who approach with their low beams on, then when we're 20 feet away, they light up the high beams. If you're gonna be a dick, at least have the balls to do it when we're a couple hundred feet apart, not at the last possible second.

had some driver turn his brights on while i was driving by and he kept them on until I shined the spotlight in the mirror

I do most of my driving in my pickup during the night and that happens alot. Rarely from cars, usually SWR's. Next pickup truck is getting a headache rack with a rear facing, 4 foot long LED light bar for those idiots.Last edited: Nov 19, 2016
Big_D409 Thanks this. -
I try to use common sense
If I'm going through Houston in heavy traffic at 9 at night and my mirrors are jacked cuz it's pouring, i appreciate someone letting me know it's ok to come back over.
If I'm crossing new Mexico at 2 am and the only traffic is me and the Swifty I'm passing, not so much.
But I don't get pissed at him/her for thinking they're being courteous.
I just keep on trucking.
I have bigger fish to fry.Agtrucker, tony97905, otherhalftw and 6 others Thank this. -
I disagree.
You didn't answer the question though. How does flashing them when it's safe for them to come over prevent them from coming over earlier than that?Pedigreed Bulldog Thanks this. -
Sorry
albert l, redoctober83, icsheeple and 5 others Thank this.
