I flash, but only in the daytime. I don't have these newfangled "blue" lights that everybody hates.
As for "knowing where the end of one's truck is", I look at it as a courtesy, not as any kind of statement that anyone else doesn't know how to drive, and I appreciate it in return.
Just my .02.

as for me, I dim at night, and flash my high beams during the day. If you high beam me at night, I will thank you with me my trailer lights. It's not really that big a deal. I also shout out on the c/b if it looks to me if you have one. Now, your complaining about high beams during the day? really? Sorry, I got to say, grow up and quit being a baby.
redoctober83 Thanks this. -

Well, it seems I may have hit a nerve. This was a rant thread, I'll admit, and I did not bother searching for other threads on the same topic. To cover a few points that have popped up:
Yeah, I'm a new driver. 10 years, 1mil+ miles, zero recordables, in NYC/Boston/DC and surrounding. Still learning, got a long way to go before I consider myself a professional, despite making a living at this.
I know precisely where the end of my truck is, and if I am executing a pass, I see no reason to merge right again until I'm several truck lengths ahead, if not several miles (on a clear night, quiet road etc). I was trained to pass decisively and to minimize lane changes.
And yes, I will have some cheese, before my wine's all gone.
