A friend of mine picked up a sprinter a little while back ('11 Freightliner 2500). Wasn't sure what he was going to do with it, as he typically just flips stuff and makes a few bucks. However, he's decided to hang on to it and use it a few days a week to transport for a company near him. He has a cdl, but would need to get his own authority, etc. His question to me (assuming that since I drive a truck I should know all things transportation-related -- ha!) is if the $1.20/loaded mile the company offers to an o/o for cargo van loads a decent rate. He's located in northcentral Alabama, if that helps. I've tried reading through several threads here and have found some info, but am hoping to hear from some folks driving these vans for a living. Thanks!
Question for sprinter/cargo van folks

Would he be dealing directly with manufacturing company or a expedite company ?
RevKev Thanks this. -
He'd be dealing with an expedite company, but have his own authority, not having to lease on with the company.

Then that is a good rate because expedite company will be doing billing and collecting . He can also look for his own loads elsewhere .

Thanks for the info. Yeah, he said he'd be able to get loads elsewhere, and the company even told him of another expedite company even closer to him that could also provide him loads. Apparently the guys running the two companies are know each other well.

Hmm...sorta makes me wonder if it's still a good rate if one has a van payment. lol

For a sprinter - that is a good rate .
