That's the thing, there is no "tags" that come on a disposable fire extinguisher. Usually date of manufacture stamped on the bottom

Simply asked why there was no tag on my fire extinguisher indicating full date or expiration. Had all factory stickers.. he said it also needs a tag
-
Those are the only kind worth buying. The certification is only good for a year or two and then it has to get recertified. If you buy a disposable fire extinguisher it must be disposed of when the certification expires even if you haven't used it yet. There are plenty of companies that refill and certify fire extinguishers.
They have to be certified in order to provide certifications for fire extinguishers.

It's an OSHA thing. Hard hats have expiration dates on them just like fire extinguishers have expiration dates on them. -
LIFE has a undetermined expiration date.
-
I assume regulations probably vary by state but here is one of the tags.
-
Actually it doesn't have an expiration it should have an inspection tag saying it was inspected on a certain date which has not happened yet.
-
Almost all fire extinguishers are refillable except for the really tiny ones that fit in your pocket.

Rabbi I know that, it was rhetorical, sorry should have put a funny picture there like or what ever.
We just replace them because
The cost of refilling them and retesting them is too close to the cost of a new one.Bean Jr. and rabbiporkchop Thank this. -
When I was dealing with that we were spending ten bucks a piece to test them each year. Guess it depends on the companies in your area.
