Do preventable accidents in Canada get reported to a database that can be accessed by future employers? Is something like bumping into a post and bending a bumper in your yard considered a preventable accident?

Depending on your Carrier I would venture to say if it gets reported...

Anything you hit. Mark, break, rub, scratch etc. PREVENTABLE.

Hell, certain situations depending on where the rig is at engine off, parked and locked with no one inside of it could be preventable too.

Some places, even if you get are the one who gets run into or hit by another vehicle, it still can be a preventable.

It is all up to the company and what they want to do and how or if they choose to report it.

The fact is that Preventable/Non Preventable is nothing but an opinion from a safety committee. For example, if my father was on your safety committee everything is Preventable. I was once hit but a driver who ran off the road then popped back up on the road and hit me while I was on a bridge. I was in the correct lane and he hit me at a 45 degree angle from the front. My loving father point out that had I left the house 15 minutes earlier I would not have been on that bridge.

Later my sister lost control of her car on the same bridge. She ended up in the creek the car resting on its top. The four wheels pointing to the sky. Dad didn't even ask how, he knew she had done everything she could to avoid the accident, it was just God's will. She was worried that she had left the lights on and I had to wade in water to turn them off to save the battery on a totaled car.

Ya,we had a driver hit a deer and got "wrote up for it". He said I was going 60mph and it was foggy I didnt see it till it darted out."Oh,it was foggy and you were going 60mph"? Ignored the fact they only gave him 6 hours dispatch time to go 335 miles and hunt for his trailer etc.LOL

Yeah, even if it's not your truck, and someone thinks your truck was just looking funny at another accident, it's still preventable! Even if you have helium in your tires!
