It just depends on the type of carrier you're working for and what you want out of the job. Some have seen all there is to see and don't care to work for a 48 state carrier, especially in winter months. Some enjoy seeing all 48, from all different angles and across all the seasons. If that's what you like, then Holland might work for you.
But then the other consideration is regular and dependable hometime and some are better suited to this than others. You can make pretty good money at Holland (in excess of 75k year) IF you run hard and maximize ALL your available time. But they want their trucks running 12,000 miles a month on average. They have the freight and the longer runs to make this happen (for most, most of the time) but you have to bring a strong work ethic. But you might be able to find a job, home every night and make that same money. Just depends on what is important to you, and what your minimum home time requirements are.

I stay out 4 weeks most of the time.
It is doable but not sure about 3 weeks. -
Do appreciate the insight!

Does 4 weeks out allow them to run you all over and still be able to get in on your hometime? I now stay out 3 weeks then home for three with the pattern repeating to which I like. Though I'm in dryvan mainly running Midwest and Northeast which helps but I'd be willing to stay out 4 weeks with a minimum of 3 off but would want a repeating schedule in reefer as I have now.

They can probably do this most of the time but I'd bring this up with the recruiter early on. Ideally they may ask that you allow 1-2 days +/- and this might make it easier for them to say "okay".
Trucker Who Thanks this. -
Went through the yard. They fixed my cruise/Jake issue, apparently it was something with clutch. Got all brand new tires which is bitter sweet. That lead me to believe I'm not getting a newer truck anytime soon lol.. which is fine, I just thought they had a lot of them laying around from when I started, turns out it's not the case.. either way I like my truck, I just wanted an automatic... I won't rush the inevitable though, they'll be here soon enough.
Was also able to get rid of all my trips so I'm happy. Good turn of events.. didn't enjoy doing those stupid safety courses but they weren't as long this time.
I'm really happy with my tires though, ready for winter

How often do they do a PM on their trucks?
-
About every 35k miles, but will do filter changes and other minor service levels anytime through the yard. They are good and will get you in and out quick, no matter. The best shop people I've worked with and my '15 truck has been flawless.
Mine went past and they did not see me coming across I-94 anytime soon so they had me run through Petro/TA for oil change yesterday (no waiting at Effingham Petro).
I half-way expected to swap this load from Holland, MI to Houston to make somebody's home time but it never happened. I guess they don't have a lot of Texas drivers.
Seems like they're running lean on power equipment right around Thanksgiving ... I empty down in Houston Friday @ 03:00 then they're having me go to Garland to load later that morning for Minnesota/Fargo but supposed to swap it in Joplin to a guy for his home time, and then get his empty to load to Oregon Sunday??, or something like that. Going to be accruing some hours the next several days, it seems like. but will probably burn the excess by Wednesday. Did 6,200 miles this last pay period, not good but just above target, regardless. And Thanksgiving holiday is directly responsible for a lost day, so it's excusable to be off a little to start this pay periodTrucker Who and Dharok Thank this. -
Had the same thing happened to me. Got oil changed at ta even though i was head to MN and then to the yard.
Just found out the ashole that fixed my bunk light step on my bed with his shoes... I find that very very disrespectful. Couldn't get a clean towel and place it on it first? I sleep there for freak sake...
I guess next time I'll undo my bed if I have something wrong with the bunk.... What a peace of sheet...mitrucker Thanks this. -
I'd bring this up with Richard in no uncertain terms. He won't tolerate this if he's made aware that it's going on
Dharok Thanks this.
