No.
They're not paid to think --- they're paid to submit and pass laws.
Getting those proposals considered, and laws passed look good on their records. That the end doesn't justify the means, means nothing.
How many times have taxes been raised to "solve" a problem that didn't exist prior to the tax(es) being raised?
Some foresight, eah?
Saw that comin'.
YeAH!
But they don't have to pay for the fuel either.
How many Big truck truck drivers have we seen playing Cherry Master for hours on end, and sometimes DAYS, while their Big truck idles needlessly, out it the 68 degree parking lot?
It wouldn't surprise me if they're the one's crying the loudest about the NO Idle laws. If y'all ain't part of the solution, y'all just might be part of the problem.
And EVERYbody pays, one way or the other.
Ya reckon.

Agreed. There is a lot of unnecessary idling. Heck, I have an APU and I don't even run it all the time.
-
Take a dog with you and when they try to make you turn it off call the animal rights people and tell them whats going on,you might be suprised. If the outside weather is below a certain degree or over a certain degree you can run your truck
-
Oh, you'll get a surprise all right. Two tickets ... one for idling and a second for endangering the life of an animal.
THERE IS NO PET EXEMPTION. NEVER HAS BEEN. NEVER WILL BE.AfterShock and GuysLady Thank this. -
I just idle as needed in Cali, I have never been harassed for it. I suspect ticketing people for this is over the chicken-#### line for a lot of officers, at least when it's extremely hot out.
I used to be paranoid, but running out of hours at 10 AM in Coachella when it was 114 out and having to pay somewhere upwards of $45 plus tax to get set up for an idleaire just to get to sleep was the last straw. -
This is sad but true. I sent an e-mail to CARB(and actually got a response!), there is no exemption. I then got a copy of the law, and read it. Basically: If you go in the truckstop and the pet is in the truck, you MUST leave the truck running.(you cant abandon an animal in a vehicle) But once YOU get in the truck, you must shut down. You see, you cant leave the pet alone, but you can both die of heatstroke together.AfterShock and Baack Thank this.

I would just idle and if I got a ticket give it to the company that you are working for let them pay for it.
If they refuse to pay for it then tell them do not send me out there anymore if the company wants it's drivers out there they will pay for the tickets or put a apu on the truck.
I will not be forced to sleep in a pool of sweat or pay for a motel room out of my pocket. -
Just got back from SoCal. Stopped by T/A in Ontario for a coffee. Just out of curiousity, I went out into the lot on the east side. LOTS of idling trucks. So, I went to the West side, same thing.
It was hot, I dont blame them. I'd be idling too! Yeah, that law is really working.

In California they are allowed to pull your license for not paying the ticket
Which sucks, gives the driver no leverage -
Yep I know that an old timmer at May Trucking paid a ticket which calafornia lost the payment on and pulled his license He had to repay it untill he got home to get the records of the payment and trace the check.
He was soooo mad but he went ahead and paid it. I think it was an overweight ticket.
I did not say I would not pay for the ticket I would try to recoup the money from the company though.
