I have observed a disturbing phenomena at truck stops. I'll wake up and I'll watch 9 out of 10 trucks pull out without even a walk around. I am assuming that they are logging Phantom pre-trip inspections. In the interest of promoting more thorough pre-trip testing I am asking experienced drivers to post the most disturbing/dangerous thing they found in a pre-trip inspection.
Phantom Pre-Trip inspections.

Fuel cap off on Passenger side of truck parked next to me.. He walked right by it and did not notice it. Full tanks. I had to hit my horns to get his attention.

Rims cracked on trailer wheels. All my tail lights stolen....etc etc. Michigan is tough on both.
TallJoe Thanks this. -
Hell with logging it! It should be done at minimum to check if the tires are ok and that trailer is still hooked up. How do you know that some wacko who you pi..ssed off the night before saw your truck at the rest area and did not pull the pin out? At times it is difficult when it's -20F outside and it is 4 am and you need to start rolling but it should be done nonetheless.drodiesel, magoo68, KillingTime and 1 other person Thank this.

Disturbing would be frozen urine on side skirts from lazy ### who was parked next to me but gone in the AM Dangerous would be a hub centre cap missing because someone stole it off trailer to replace theirs I guess
