Early contact is apparently a good approach, as the recruiter has asked me to fill out the application so they can pre-qualify me etc. And then when I am ready to take a seat, assuming my history checks out, they would put me with a driver for month before sending me solo!!

You'll drive with a trainer for 4-6 weeks. After that you have the option to go team or drive solo.
During training you'll take home on average $900 per week. It's all up to you on how well you adapt to driving. Some students can't put in more then 6-8 hours for a few days. I drove class B otr for about 5yrs so no problem there , only have about 2 mo class a but its been a couple yrs ago so I'm going back for a refresher the 1st of the yr

If u unload a trailer would u get paid the same as a lumper? Do they have delivery jobs for driver to unload?

No, but I've never been to a place that a consignee will let you unload.
For the most part I've only written 1 lumper check in 3 years. We drop and hook a lotLast edited: Nov 29, 2016
