I would say go for it. If you don't like it stick it out until you get something better. As everyone knows always try to always back on the drivers side. Of course you never want to blindside back if you don't have to. Don't be afraid to get out and check your blind side as many times as you need. It's much better than your trailer hitting a truck. Watch your trailer tires when your backing instead of the back of the trailer. I always try to get as close as I can to the trailer on my drivers side and sometimes you gotta jack knife a little bit to keep that trailer turning. Then you can pull up a little bit and get straight. Like everything else it just takes time. You will get to the point where you don't even think about it. Be safe out there.

Also be very proud you got the chance to be home every night and drive local!! You're very lucky! Most places won't ever give you a chance. You gotta go OTR atleast 6 months. Getting a job like you is hard to come by without tractor/trailer experience. I bought my own truck and got on with a container company, so I had two headaches. The semi breaking down all the time and dealing with containers!
Mike2633 Thanks this. -
Go for it and see if you like it. My grandpa drove all his life and always preferred the class b rigs. He didn't like the stress and tight spots of a class a vehicle. Personally, I prefer the big rig.

The take away lesson is this: Figure out what you want to do/experience/achieve in your near/middle/far future. Think about the paths that would lead you there.
That way, when someone offers you a PROMOTION that will move you down that path you wanted, YOU WON'T SAY "Let me think about that for a while and get back to you."!
The response to that offer was expected to be "HELL YAH, when do I start?" Your response conveyed a lack of interest and motivation. Bosses don't find that appealing. Don't do that.
You missed it by THAT much.
