Good for you. Maybe the salesman's plan was to bait and switch? Congrats to the owner for getting back to you quickly BUT he should have stepped up and tried to resolved the issue.

I would have walked too. Don't them hornswaggle you into some truck you didn't choose. Sucks you took a trip for nothing but that's a minor inconvenience in the grand scheme of things.

So what does the VIN number tell you?

That's one step in a bunch that should be done to buy a truck.

A vin check will tell you who owned the truck, single owner or multiple owners, inspections, if it's been involved in a dot recordable accident.

That's a few examples of what's in the report, if I like the results of the report than I continue to next steps, test drive, dot inspections, dyno etc. if all that checks out to my satisfaction, I will sign for vehicle.

My quest to find a reputable dealer continues.

There's no such thing as a Reputable Dealer.

You need to do your homework and do your own research in anything you do or purchase in your life.

when I get my truck from them I call the fleet that had it new and got the repair history from them from when it was new till they sold it.... they sold it at 460k when I looked at it, it had 512k..... the truck now has over 1,155k and I have all but 52k worth of info on it
