You will end up replacing that windshield. Take a look at your insurance.

Believe you me when I say that windshield needs replacing now and then. If anything a nice glass keeps DOT away.

 

I agree with @pullingtrucker. If your insurance does a free replacement, when you park it at the house, chuck a rock at the windshield and make a phone call.

 

Not my insurance I need to be concerned with. It's the cash in my boss's wallet that will be affected. They do their own windshields, however I've come to understand their workmanship is less then perfect. Seems mine (driver's side) was replaced early on in it's life before I got it, and it leaks a bit under hard rain and Blue Beacon conditions.

 

Windshields are not that expensive. If it's causing issues of any sort get it replaced.

 

This. Have an old Pete 385 & mine cracked one day. Wanting to say it was $115 installed for the drivers side at Pete in Springfield, MO. This has been a few yrs ago & has not leaked at all.

Talked to a guy in WI a couple years ago & he was buying his glass replacements for KW's at $45. Think he ran 8 trucks or so & they installed their own. Whether it was true or not, have no idea. But then again, do not see a reason to bs on windshield installs.

 

45 was probably for a 2 piece flat glass. Still even if it's a couple hundred to have it installed, so what.... it's going to cost less than a tank of fuel. If the boss has a problem with or can't afford a windshield it's time for a new boss.

 

If you're replacing your windshield it's better to pay more for the OEM glass then the Made in China glass.

Even though Glass Shops claim the Made in China Windshields are the same quality, I disagree, as I've found that they are more prone to cracking from a rock hitting it, then a OEM Windshield.

 

I feel very strongly about this. OEM glass. Always. Im not picking on china. They have their own problems.

We replaced glass regularly on the cabovers back in the day, just stick a knife into the gasket, peel it, drop glass, throw new one in and install gasket and done. Windex time. (Windex is also good for leaving a HUGE scent scaring bears off....)

 

There are a couple guys that hang around Joplin, Mo. that do replacements. I have watched them do an install and in my opinion they know what they are doing. I don't remember $$$$$ but it was very reasonable.
