Two years. I'm more grateful for the start I had at a mega now than I was when I left them a few months ago, but I'm very happy where I'm at now.

Cool man you made it a lot further then most from what i hear. Most don't make it past 3 months in trucking. I hope to lower that statistic.

You'll be fine, dude. When I was on my trainers truck my car had just been repossessed and I was about to lose my apartment lol. When I got in my first truck I was stressed as hell but knew I made the right decision. Real simple, go with a place that has benefits and DO NOT LEASE PURCHASE. At least not for a couple years, then if you want to try, go ahead. Stay away from CR England and you'll be fine.

I grew up in the business and have a brother who drives, so my odds were better than most. Still, this industry is nothing like it was when I was a kid.

3 month flew by and I am closing in on my 8th month. I suspect that many of those who don't last have trouble adjusting to a variable sleep patterns or homesickness being away from family and friends. it doesn't sound like the latter is an issue for you.

As for disrupted sleep, it sucks but there is usually ample down time to get caught up in a day or two. if you are the sort that can't function on less than 8+ hrs of solid sleep every night then it will be difficult.

As for the expectation of cooking and preparing your own meals, I would say forget it while in training, there is precious little space (and time) for groceries and food prepartion. Even making a PBJ is going to be tricky in a moving truck as you try to balance slices of bread on your lap.

Save that for when you get your own truck and can arrange your day and living space to suit your needs. I lived on lances peanut butter crackers and subway while I was on trainers truck. $10 a day was more than enough to keep me going.

My family is disfunctional but i can be away for long periods of time with no issue. We live within a 20 mile radius of each other and i barely see my family as it is.

Yes i understand when im on the trainers truck space will be limited. I planned like you crackers and beef, turkey type jerky sticks. I'll eat out sometimes with the trainer but not a lot.

Yep whatever i can fit in a duffle bag i'll bring. From what i read most people say only bring what you can stuff into a duffle bage due to limited space on the truck.

True that. Sleeping bag, pillow and a duffel. Bring a lot of underwear and socks and a shaving bag. Pants and shirts you can wear multiple times.

Good luck, trucking is definitely a way to make grown man money. You won't get rich, but you can put money in the bank. Pass the test and one things for sure you will have work if you want to work.

    1278PA and x1Heavy Thank this.
