Has anyone used this for payroll? I am looking for something that will calculate everything for me ie taxes, ss, etc. I'm willing to type in the miles driver drove for pay period. Click submit, and the driver gets a check.
Can anyone recommend a good service that does this?

I use quickbooks. Its a love/hate relationship though. I think there are probably better programs out there for trucking. QuickBooks is catered more for a regular storefront style business. JMO

Look at Quickbooks Enhanced Payroll for your company. Have you contacted your accountant to discuss this option. It will allow the accountant to access your Quickbooks remotely to make paychecks for your employees along with the employee/employer accrual for payroll taxes regarding social security, state, and local taxation. Doing this yourself is fine but have a conversation with a real accountant before venturing into this. The penalties for noncompliance with payroll taxes will sink your business in a minute. Those would include the Social Security Trust Fund recovery penalty for noncompliance. You will have no corporate protections under LLC, C-Corp,S-Corp, etc.... It will be a piercing of the corporate vail action to you personally.

You can use just the online version of Intuit Payroll by itself or use it in conjunction with Quickbooks. By itself you would have to re-enter the figures into your accounting software. I do not have employees, but if I did I would definitely use Intuit Payroll (as they are reliable), and the monthly fee is reasonable. You can do this yourself without a payroll service, especially if you only have one or two employees....which would be much cheaper.

thanks fellas. Intuit has a free trial. I figured I'd try to do it myself besides paying someone to do the same thing I'd be doing. The reviews I read for Intuit are pretty solid, I was just wondering if any truckers have it.

I am an S-Corp, so I also use payroll. I thought about doing it on my own, but I could not find a reliable software, so every three months I go to an accountant and pay them 100$ to do it for me.

we use ADP and are pretty happy with it. Paychex is their next biggest competitor and are essentially the same thing except for some details. Hiring a payroll company makes things a good bit easier and has proven worth it for us. Frees up some office staff to work on other things.

    Lepton1 Thanks this.
