Carriers and drivers who are using paper logs or logging software must transition to ELDs no later than December 18, 2017.
You can run E-Logs today if you wish.Truckergirl2016 Thanks this. -
Doubt there would be anything free out there... And re-writing them is "falsifying government docs" right?
Did he try to juggle logs and screw up the math? Or did he just not log for days?G13Tomcat Thanks this. -
That's what I'm trying to figure out. I have no problem with re-writing logs to clean them up and/or fix mistakes, but I do have a problem with just running all day (or several days) without touching a logbook, and then sitting down and trying to make a believable log after the fact. You've gotta have something to go by, or you're gonna have a rough row to hoe.ExOTR Thanks this.

I would do this.
Sell the truck and stick to one truck.
Why?
Because you two don't know how to hire a driver nor how to operate a fleet.
Just because you hired the guy doesn't mean much. Mistakes are made but if the guy has a problem with some really really simple thing, then he shouldn't be driving.
On the other hand your process to find a driver is really lacking a lot of things, like how to check people out and how to say no.
sorry to be harsh but this isn't a business thing like selling on eBay and it gets tiring dealing with people who have good intentions and want to make big bucks but don't learn the business first hand. -
How does he purchase fuel? Did you issue a Comdata card to him. Comdata gives you the place and exact time of the transaction. Then it's on you to audit his logs and advise him his log books must have him fueling at that time and place.
My company does exactly that. Any driver with ongoing log violations are put on probation. If they don't clean up their act within a month they are gone.G13Tomcat Thanks this. -
That is the whole idea,, it should not be you writing logs to fix his mistakes or to write logs that are just not there... If he gets stopped on the road and does not have the current log plus the last 7 days,, he will be put OOS,,, this will flag your carrier in FMCSA...if they find no logs they just may shut down your carrier.... You the carrier have to maintain them for six months.
He is the driver and it is his responsibility to fill out his daily logs to the last change of status.
You are opening yourself up to many major issues if he has an accident or you get audited.
Put him on an ELD NOW!.... It will cost some $, but it will be less than what you will pay if the FMCSA audits you or he has an accidents and kills someone.
How long has he driven for your company?
I am hoping you are getting the idea of how dangerous this driver is to the motoring public and the future of your company.G13Tomcat Thanks this. -
I also hope you as the carrier have all required documentation as required by a company for employee's to include drug testing.
G13Tomcat Thanks this. -
If you do not want to believe us... @Scalemaster ask him...... he works at a scale..
