It's decent, but he doesn't pay benefits since he uses his wife's.
How about if I just attend a school? Do any of the schools around dfw accept gi bill to pay for the class? -
If this is the case I would recommend a school for at least a refresher. You have to be able to back and you have to be able to shift. Also Pre trip inspection. Hooking up a trailer needs to be learned course that doesn't take much

Driving school burns a year off your P911, should be able to apply through Texas Workforce and get the training for free. Only benefit to using P911 is the apprenticeship program with some carriers pays you an extra 24k over the 1st 2 years. I know Schneider and TMC have apprenticeship, suppose most of the megas do also.

Jim Palmer Trucking and Melton Truck Lines and Don Hummer Trucking also.

I'd get some experience before getting into a tanker. Trust me. I got hired out of school pulling around a smooth bore. I made it a year before I got hired on to haul fuel. Looking back, I had no business starting out in a tanker. I had an advantage because my grandfather had a few trucks and I was exposed to the industry at a very early age. I don't think pulling a tanker is something to take lightly and being as your new, stay away from liquid hazmat until you know how to drive. I'm not trying to discourage you but I believe it's a matter of safety. Good luck.WesternPlains Thanks this. -
Call community colleges or workforce programs in your area. A lot of states have grants and will send you to school for nothing. Schools are usually better schools also. I went to a community college program and paid 200 out of pocket. And got to choose the company I went to work for not tied to any contract.
