I think there almost re inventing trucking. It seems they are trying to tackle all the issues with trucking. I know Ryder is there only point of service centers. I think 350 ish points of refuel is fine. Remember every day you get 120ish miles of free driving by the recharge of the batteries. I do like the side door, really will help with slip and fall. You get free fuel, repairs up to 1,000,000 miles turn it in go again. I'm sure they will stop the free fuel at some point. As an O/O if I fix my costs at say 6 grand per month all in...eh maybe. But I would want a 98% dispatched ready rate. If it falls below that I want a daily refund. I know my 2016 Evolution is at 99.2 % over 14 months and 151xxx miles and I average 8 plus per mile..

The press release my wife found had us xpress logos on the sides. I wonder if they are responsible for a few hundred of the pre-orders. if they are I will be one of many who will apply just to have a shot at trying one out
x1Heavy Thanks this. -
I'm in a 2013 cascading, tyranny just went out today, which I warned the company about a couple weeks ago. it's got 870,500 miles on it already. average is in the 6's. a full load is less than 20,000 lbs, no mountains. it's just wore out and tired. time for something new.x1Heavy Thanks this.

It sounds great but Kevin Rutherford says it's a scam. I wouldn't be in a huge hurry to be the first one to put down a cash deposit

Nothing is free, even the fuel. You do pay for it in a roundabout way. Just like your pilot points, they are not free. You pay for it with higher prices. These things are nothing more than a reach around gimic.

If this thing actually comes to fruition it will be way cool! I just think it is still a number of years out. Probably at least 10 years. Taking a bunch of money in pre-orders does not make it real. It is a concept with no testmule in sight. I suspect these type of trucks will come online along with the widespread use of autonomous trucks. Of course I could be wrong.

I don't think they can build them and actually put the truck on the road. Seems pretty complicated. These people are going to build a new truck from the ground up. How will the manufacturer the truck. That's no easy task. I read Fitzgerald was going to make them. They talking about Fitzgerald Glider trucks, those guy are going to build a truck frame and cab and sleeper ?

OK I did the little calculator thing, my savings would be -$4678 per truck. So I would lose 4600 a truck using this one.

I dunno.
Looking at the pictures, the OTR tractor looks to be very skinny on the wheelbase. That's gonna cause problems, considering how top heavy the thing is. That'll make cornering an issue.
The daycab model looks to be sitting on a more traditional width wheelbase. Or maybe it's just that the daycab model isn't quite so tall. Either way, driving the OTR model is gonna present some challenges beyond fueling and maintenance, I think.
