Hi not, I was just going to say that. I've called on the phone for directions (pre-cell phone) and gotten directions only to find a low bridge and the company on the other side.:cwm10: ( mostly in Chicago)

The ld. I took into Nj. Fri.
Well my permit ended at i78 and the jersey parkway. Now I know not to get on the parkway.
Looking at Google, there were like 3 different ways to get into the customer. So I call and ask the lady who answered the phone.
Her reply was this, Do you have GPS. Me yes I do, but it's not always right. Her reply was this, Well get off at exit 54 and follow your GPS, if you have a problem call us back... I'm like WTF???
Now I'm 82 feet long and thank goodness legal hgt and width, but this is going into a crane yard. Seems like the airhead would of had directions...
It worked out ok, but I was a little nervous on the turns

    No scale on shipper property.
    It's a 5 mile trip to a pilot.
    Overweight.
    5 miles back to shipper.
    1 pallet off trlr
    5 miles back to pilot.
    Overweight again
    5 miles to shipper
    Another pallet off trailer
5 miles back to the pilot
    Overweight again
    5 miles to shipper
Shipper says 'I guess you're really overweight huh'

Dropping a loaded trailer and picking up a preloaded trailer from the same customer. When I checked in the guard told me I would need an empty to pickup the load as they're a "strict one trailer in one trailer out" facility and the only way he'd give me the paper work for the outbound load is if I brought in an empty. After a little back and forth I say "okay, I'll get with dispatch, where do you want me to drop this". Guard tells where to drop and I go do my thing, then call in.

Company says "that's ridiculous" and calls the customer, then calls me back and tells me to go get an empty and come back for the load. I bobtail to the gate and the Guard tells me I have to take an empty trailer. I'm "WTF?" and he snootily reminds me they're "one in one out". After a little more back and forth I go hook to an empty and bring it back to the guard shack. He signs the empty out to me, then signs it back into the system.

The whole thing was so Kafkaesque I could only laugh.

    Yeah....
They don't realize you might have to go 100 miles hunting for an empty and lose 1/2 day of pay for the ######## endeavor

If they'd needed the trailer so be it. If I'd bobtailed out and come back with an empty I would have been pissed but I understand that they needed the trailer pool. It was the fact he wouldn't let me bobtail out OR just pick up my load. He made me hook to a empty just to take it back to the same spot because the guard was told not to release any loads without an empty trailer being brought in. He couldn't comprehend that my loaded trailer would be emptied.
